ProPublica and Local Reporting Partner Win Two Pulitzers
Two projects I was involved with last year have been recognized by the Pulitzer Prizes.
“Disaster in the Pacific,” an investigation of leadership failures that lead to fatal accidents in the Navy and Marines, was awarded a Pulitzer in the national reporting category. “Lawless,” a joint project between ProPublica and the Anchorage Daily News, revealed shocking gaps in public safety services for the indigenous people of Alaska, and was recognized with the gold medal for public service—the highest honor in American journalism.
Both series are the result of major team efforts that spanned multiple teams, and even newsrooms. It’s an honor to have collaborated with so many talented people to shape the presentation and visual editing of such impactful journalism.
